How the math works
Seven rules, no surprises
Every number Duesline shows comes from these rules. Nothing is estimated and nothing is looked up: it is your numbers, added and divided.
R1 · The season
Season costs are the sum of your cost lines. Money in is the sum of your money-in lines. What dues must cover is costs minus money in, never less than zero.
R2 · The cushion
The cushion is a percentage (0 to 20) of what dues must cover, rounded to the cent. It is there for the referee fee that went up or the extra tournament. Dues raise what dues must cover plus the cushion.
R3 · Who pays
Paying players are the players on the team minus the spots the team covers, and never fewer than one. Covered spots pay nothing; their share is spread evenly over the paying players.
R4 · Dues each
Dues each is the amount to raise divided by the paying players, rounded up to $1, $5 or $10, your choice. Rounding up means the team is never short; the planner shows the extra it makes.
R5 · Installments
Dues are split into whole-dollar payments (up to 2 free, 6 with the Team Pass). Any dollars that do not divide evenly go on the first payment, so the later payments are equal. A payment with no date is due now.
R6 · Statuses in the Dues Book
"Due so far" is the total of the payments whose due date is today or earlier (New York time). For each player number: Paid when the number has paid the full dues; Behind when it has paid less than is due so far; Not yet due when nothing is due yet and nothing is paid; otherwise On track. Paying more than the dues shows as a credit.
R7 · If players join or leave
The what-if table re-does R4 for two fewer to two more paying players, with the same costs, money in and cushion. It shows how much each player's dues move when the roster changes.
What the planner does not do
It does not know your league's fees, it does not add tax, and it does not decide what is fair for your team: covered spots, the cushion and the rounding are your calls. Money in that is promised but not yet received counts as if it were in hand; leave it out if you are not sure of it.
